How Much Would I Have If is an independent, education-only investing calculator built and maintained by David Paterni. It is not a brokerage, fund, or media company. This page explains what data the site does and does not collect, and the choices you have. In short: there are no user accounts, no logins, and no personal data is ever sold.
What we don't collect
The site has no sign-up, no login, and no user profiles. We don't ask for your name, email, or payment details to use any calculator. We don't build advertising or marketing profiles about you, and we never sell or rent personal data to anyone.
Analytics
We use two layers of analytics, both aimed at understanding aggregate site usage — which pages are visited and how the site performs — not at identifying you.
Aggregate, cookieless analytics runs by default. It records high-level, anonymized traffic signals without using cookies to track you across sites.
Google Analytics 4 is consent-gated. It loads in a default-denied state and stays off until you opt in. Opting in grants only analytics storage (analytics_storage); advertising storage and ad personalization remain denied. You can change this at any time using the “Privacy choices” link in the site footer, and returning visitors keep whatever choice they last made.
Advertising
This site participates in third-party advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to visitors based on their visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and you can opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices. More on how Google uses advertising cookies is available in Google's advertising technologies policy. Ad personalization on this site is currently denied by default (ad_storage denied) unless and until you change your consent settings.
Cookies & local storage
The site keeps its footprint deliberately small. The items that may be stored are: a consent-gated Google Analytics cookie (set only after you opt in); a theme preference (light/dark), stored in your browser's local storage and used only to remember your display choice — not to track you; and your consent choice itself, also stored in local storage so we can honor it on return visits.
Third-party data providers
The investment figures on this site are calculated from historical price data (Twelve Data) and inflation data (FRED, the Federal Reserve Economic Data service). These are server-side data sources used to build the numbers you see — they are not user-tracking tools and they do not receive information about you.
Your choices & rights
You can withdraw or change analytics consent at any time via the “Privacy choices” link in the footer. Because the site retains little to no personal data, there is generally nothing personal to export or delete — but if you have a question about your data, you can reach out using the contact details below.
Not financial advice
How Much Would I Have If is for education and illustration only and is not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Read more about how the numbers are produced on the methodology page, and about who runs the site on the about page.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
